Mental Health and Mindfulness
I know I'm not alone in saying that crafting has some massive benefits for mental health. Being able to lose yourself in a project and come out with something to be proud of in the end is priceless.
Today I would like to share something else which has really benefited my mental health. You've probably heard of mindfulness before - it's all over the press and mental health related content.
Headspace is an app which teaches mindfulness and includes hundreds of meditations tailored to help combat anything from anxiety to insomnia. I've been using it for about 2 years now and I cannot recommend it enough. To be able to take even a few minutes of each day and escape from thoughts and feelings can make all the difference. Learning mindfulness has helped me to enjoy things like sewing and gardening more because I have developed the ability to be present and pay attention to what I'm doing instead of focusing on worrying. Not only does it help soothe stress but I find that paying more attention to the moment can make mistakes less frequent!
